About Me
My name is Marin Yeats. I am a Psychodynamic Counsellor and Psychotherapist and an EMDR therapist practising in North London.
I believe that we tend to access therapy when it’s no longer possible for us to travel alone on our journey, hidden from ourselves and others, stuck in patterns that can no longer contain us, and when the way in which we are relating to ourselves, others and the world around us, is no longer making us feel fully alive. Some wisdom within us communicates the need to look inwards.
Looking inwards can feel daunting but it is necessary in order to instigate a meaningful and transformative lasting change. Navigating such changes (both external and internal), can be difficult and it can make us vulnerable and delicate. In our therapeutic encounter, I strive to meet you where you are in your emotional landscape and offer you empathy, support, structure and a space for understanding and accepting everything that has and hasn’t happened in your life, especially in your formative years. My aim is to offer a therapeutic relationship that fosters a safe environment for exploring your internal world and bears witness to the process of transformation. I passionately believe that Psychotherapy brings you closer to the reality of your life, whatever that reality is.
As an immigrant to the UK, I have a particular interest in working with other immigrants and anyone who experiences discrimination and/or any form of oppression.
My journey to becoming a therapist started with my own experience of therapy two decades ago. Since then, I have worked with both physical and emotional pain and trauma. Before working in private practice, I worked as a Counsellor at East London Out Project (ELOP) charity where I offered Counselling and support for a wide range of issues, including supporting LGBTQ people seeking asylum and trying to settle in the UK.
